The game started with Spain in control, earning an early penalty in the 8th minute after Mikel Oyarzabal was fouled. He confidently converted it to give La Roja the lead. The Netherlands fought back and equalized in the 54th minute through Memphis Depay, who also scored from the penalty spot.
Spain regained the lead in the 67th minute as Oyarzabal struck again, capitalizing on a precise assist from Nico Williams. However, the Dutch responded strongly, with Ian Maatsen leveling the score in the 79th minute, forcing extra time.
In the first half of extra time, Spain took the lead again with a stunning goal from Lamine Yamal in the 103rd minute. But the Netherlands refused to give up and won another penalty in the 109th minute, which Xavi Simons calmly converted to make it 3-3.
